Suit Resizing

First fitting

Within two working days after the first meeting, you get to try on an incomplete draft of all of your garments. The first fitting serves as an opportunity to get a feel for the garment (that is loosely sewn together), make sure we accurately captured the fit and eliminate any potential problems early on. Your second fitting will be ready within the next three working days.

However, it’s not major surgery to cinch (“take in”) the sides, waist, chest, and arms (more on these alterations later). The rule of thumb is that you can go down two sizes at a maximum, but a suit jacket or blazer, only one size too large, is a safer option.

Suit alterations are actually quite simple, once you understand the basic theory. The first thing you need to know is that a garment can only be altered on a seam. You can either “take-in” a seam (make it smaller) or “let-out” a seam (make it larger). “Taking-in” means making the garment smaller.

In fact, professional stylists the world over agree that proper fit is the most important part of any outfit, more than colour, patterns or even material. Spending a few bucks to improve the fit of your suits is often a great investment – when done correctly. If for any reason your suit needs adjustments, contact our Customer Experience team or your local showroom and we will guide you through the process in Which alterations can be done; What can’t be fixed; How much it will cost you; So, can you alter a suit jacket or pants?
